About Our Services

Bay Cove Human Services is a private, not-for-profit corporation that provides a wide variety of services to children, adults and their families who live with mental illness, addiction disorders or developmental disabilities. We began providing effective and compassionate services in 1959 with the founding of Center Club. We now employ more than 1,400 staff who provide services to more than 14,000 individuals and their families each year at over 100 different program sites throughout the greater Boston area.

A Focus on Quality

Bay Cove strives to achieve the highest possible standards in delivering care "with excellence and compassion" to its service recipients. This focus on quality has been recognized by CARF, the nationwide accreditation agency that provides independent assessments of human service organizations. Bay Cove achieved the top rating in its August 2002 CARF survey, earning a three-year certificate (renewed in June 2005) and the mention of seven areas where agency services were rated as "exemplary". The exemplary rating is only given in cases where an organization sets a new standard for excellence, which is equal to the best that reviewers have seen throughout the country.

Voluntary, Client-Focused Care

BayCove service recipients actively participate in the development of their own treatment or rehabilitation plans. Our agency strives to enhance each and every person's sense of self-worth by showing them how to appreciate their successes in realistic everyday life situations such as learning how to make friends, rent an apartment, cook a meal and get a job. Outcomes are measured through the achievement of these practical goals.
