ACADEMIC
PROGRAM
We take
great care to ensure that the academic development of each
student
progresses
along with appropriate social growth. Our academic program
is designed to accommodate the needs of each student.
Individual Education Plans are written by teachers in
consultation with therapists and other specialists. These
highly focused educational blueprints are then implemented
in classrooms with a low student/staff ratio. Our objective
is the development of academic skills as well as conceptual
abilities such as problem-solving, negotiation, and
critical thinking strategies. Bay Cove Academy works
collaboratively with local school districts so that, when
appropriate, students may return to their local public
schools. Graduates receive a diploma from Bay Cove Academy
as well as their home school district.
The curriculum in each subject area is aligned with the
Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and is designed to
prepare students for the Massachusetts Comprehensive
Assessment Test (MCAS).
