NEW STAFF ORIENTATION

 Classes are held on Monday and Tuesday of each week unless Monday is a holiday,
in which case the orientation classes will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday of that week

Orientation to Bay Cove – Day One:

(8:45 a.m.-4 p.m. in “The Cave,” on the 2nd floor at 66 Canal St.)

Benefits Overview and Sign-On/Job description/ Training Requirements The Benefits Coordinator will review various aspects of sign-on paperwork with new hires. Bay Cove’s Health and Dental plans will be reviewed, as well as the 403B Retirement Savings Plan Option.

Orientation to Human Resources – This session will highlight general issues related to Introductory Period of Employment. Includes an overview of Program Specific Orientation, as well as training requirements and ongoing training and staff development opportunities. Leads into a group discussion regarding Professional Boundaries/Conduct. Final component includes an overview of Who’s Who in the Human Resources Department.


Sexual Harassment Training – This one-hour class is a discussion of what constitutes sexual harassment, what forms it takes and how to avoid it. The program may include viewing a video depicting incidents of sexual harassment. Bay Cove’s policy is reviewed in detail with participants.

Work Ethics– A discussion of professional standards and expectations at Bay Cove, led by the Training Department.

Orientation with the President of Bay Cove – A general orientation to Bay Cove Human Services. Attention is given to the mission of the agency and the philosophy that guides its operations. All divisions, programs and departments are discussed.

(9:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in conference room on 6th floor of 66 Canal St. on the next day)

Overview of BayNet (Bay Cove’s internal website) including a practice exercise – presented by the Training Department 

Infectious Diseases and Universal Precautions Training – presented by the Training Department

Mandated Reporting – presented by Human Rights Officers

Intro to Help Desk – presented by Bay Cove’s IT Department

Overview and History of Bay Cove – presented by the Training Department
