HUMAN RIGHTS

Bay Cove Human Services provides comprehensive Human Rights training to its staff and Human Rights Committee Members. This training discusses the legal rights, human rights, and rights to privacy enjoyed by all US citizens including those who have developmental disabilities, mental illness or substance abuse disorders. The course includes training on mandatory reporting of suspected abusive or neglectful treatment of people with disabilities. Focus is placed on training staff to help individuals explore and exercise their rights as community members:

Subjects covered by this training include:

HRO (Human Rights Officers)

Human Rights New Officers Orientation (one time only for new officers) This 1½-hour training is mandatory and provides orientation and basic “how-to” information for new Human Rights Officers. In addition, HROs are expected to attend their coordinator’s monthly Group Supervision and Training sessions

Training and Supervision for DD Support Housing and Center House This is a 1 ½- hour ongoing training and supervision for all Human Rights Officers of DMR-funded programs. This training identifies and builds HRO skills and provides a forum for networking with HROs of other programs to share ideas and gain practical knowledge for the implementation of human rights principles at each program site.

HRO (Human Rights Officers) Training and Supervision - CH and MH Supported Housing This is a 1 ½-hour ongoing training and supervision for all Human Rights Officers of DMH-funded supported housing programs. This training identifies and builds HRO skills and provides a forum for networking with HROs of other programs to share ideas and gain practical knowledge for the implementation of human rights principles at each residential program site.

HRO (Human Rights Officers) Training and Supervision: DD Community Residences This is a1 ½-hour ongoing training and supervision for all Human Rights Officers of DMR-funded residential programs. This training identifies and builds HRO skills and provides a forum for networking with HROs of other programs to share ideas and gain practical knowledge for the implementation of human rights principles at each residential program site.
