Employee Benefits

Bay Cove Human Services offers staff and their families a rich selection of benefit programs designed to meet the needs of its diverse workforce. Bay Cove recognizes the importance that benefit plans play in our everyday lives, and awards staff with competitive, affordable programs meant to enhance the quality of their lives.

Health Insurance

Health insurance--specifically quality and affordability--continues to rank as the most crucial of any benefit an employer offers. Bay Cove offers a choice of three unique health plans through Tufts Health Plan. The three plans were selected to reflect the different needs of our workforce.

Your Choice HMO is a tiered network plan. Employees may see any provider in the Tufts Health Plan network. An employee's cost will depend upon the Tier that their provider has been classified in. Using Tier 1 providers, for example, will cost less than using a higher-tiered provider. All providers within the network, regardless of tiers, meet Tufts Health Plan's standards of quality.

Advantage HMO 3000 is an HMO. This plan comes with a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) funded by Bay Cove, which reimburses a significant portion of the plan's deductible. With this plan, employees pay the first $1,000 per single/$2,000 per family of the deductible. Bay Cove will pay the remaining deductible amount of $2,000 per single/$4,000 per family.

Advantage PPO 3000 is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), which means employees may see any provider, whether or not they are in the Tufts Health Plan network. This plan comes with a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) funded by Bay Cove, which reimburses part of the deductible. With this plan, employees pay the first $2,000 per single/$4,000 per family of the deductible. Bay Cove then pays the remaining part of the deductible ($1,000 per single/$2,000 per family).

Employees are considered full-time if they work 35 or more hours per week. Part-time employees working 20-34 hours per week are eligible with a pro-rated agency contribution. Coverage is available on both an Individual and Family basis.

Bay Cove Human Services contributes 70% of the mid-range plan or the same dollar amount for the other two plans.

NOTE: There is no waiting period for new employees to take advantage of Medical, Dental, Vision and Accident insurance. New employees are immediately eligible for these benefits.

Dental Insurance

Dental insurance is offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield. There are two dental plan options: one with a calendar year maximum payment of $1,000 and another with a maximum payment of $2,000. Coverage is available on both an Individual and Family basis.

Vision Insurance

Vision insurance is provided through Vision Services Plan (VSP). This plan offers discounts on eye exams, prescription glasses and contact lenses.

Accident Insurance

Bay Cove offers employees the opportunity to purchase accident insurance through Allstate Benefits. Accident insurance provides cash benefits for out-of-pocket expenses associated with an accidental injury, whether it occurs on or off the job.

Retirement Savings Plan

A 403(b) retirement plan through VOYA Financial Services is available upon hire for all employees over the age of 21 years who work more than 20 hours per week.

• Employees under the age of 50 may contribute up to $18,000 per calendar year.

• Employees 50 years or older may contribute up to $24,000 per calendar year.

Employer Match

After an employee has been with Bay Cove for two years, the agency will contribute a matching $1 for each dollar the employee contributes (up to $30) for each weekly pay period.

Discretionary Contribution

Following 10 years of continued employment, the agency funds an additional discretionary contribution equal to a percentage of the employee's salary.

• After 10 years of employment: 2.5% of salary

• After 15 years of employment: 5% of salary

• After 20 years of employment: 10% of salary

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

Bay Cove employees can save money on healthcare and daycare expenses by setting aside pre-tax money in Flexible Spending Accounts provided by TASC. Funds can be set aside to help offset the cost of unreimbursed healthcare expenses (Medical FSA) and/or childcare (Dependent Care Spending Account) expenses incurred by employees or their eligible dependents.

Long Term Disability

Long Term Disability insurance is provided to Bay Cove employees through Cigna Insurance Company. This program protects against loss of earnings while disabled on a long term basis. It provides 60% of an average week's wages, up to age 65 if medically qualified. This plan is paid for by Bay Cove. Employees who work 20 hours or more are enrolled on the day after their two-year anniversary.

Voluntary Short Term Disability

Employees working more than 20 hours per week can purchase an individual short term disability policy through Colonial Supplementary Life Insurance Company. The premiums for this plan can be paid through payroll deductions.

Life Insurance

Group term life insurance is provided through Sun Life of Canada. Bay Cove pays for this benefit. Employees who work 20 or more hours per week, and have been employed for two years or more, are enrolled in this plan. For Years 2-9, employees receive an amount of life insurance equal to their annual salary. After 10 years of service, the life insurance amount is equal to two times an employee's yearly salary, with a cap of $250,000.
