Responsibilities: This seasonal, 4½ month position is primarily responsible for hiring and supervising staff, stocking/restocking program supplies, the smooth functioning of the services during scheduled shifts, enforcing the policies and procedures of the program, and representing CASPAR’s Cambridge Warming Center (CWC) at key stakeholder meetings. The CWC is a very low threshold drop-in night center, predicated on harm reduction principles. The CWC offers lifesaving shelter to unsheltered homeless adults throughout the winter months. This is an exempt position. •Engage in staff recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orientation, work assignments, supervision, progressive discipline, and performance evaluation in accordance with program and agency policy. •Assists shelter residents in efforts to secure needed treatment through Front Door Triage. •Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with key stakeholders. •Facilitate financial and budgetary procedures including payroll. •Provide crisis assessment, prevention and needed intervention. Evaluate incidents to determine appropriate actions to be taken. •Maintain accurate programmatic documentation such as census, time sheets, fire drills, daily logs, incident reports, and any other documentation assigned. •Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of the physical site in compliance with all state, federal, and city regulations. •Complete other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications: •BA Degree preferred, in psychology or other human service field preferred. •Five years of experience working with adults who are homeless with complex behavioral health challenges. •Three years of experience in supervisory or management roles. •Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps. •A thorough knowledge of emergency shelter resources available for guests •Experience with the disease concept of addiction and a knowledgeable and compassionate view of harm reduction theory and practice. •Valid driver’s license. Personal Characteristics: •Ability to work collaboratively as a member of multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams. •Demonstrated use of good judgment and maturity in critical decision making and in interactions with co-workers, supervisees, guests, and collateral contacts. •Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a culturally diverse population of guests, other care providers, family, and community members. •Must be able to set limits and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with guests and staff •Ability to function under pressure in a fast-paced human service environment. •Ability to articulate and communicate Bay Cove’s mission and strategic direction in a consistent and enthusiastic manner to departmental staff. Physical Qualifications: •Must be able to assist in opening program, including: lifting food trays, breaking down tables, chairs etc.
