Responsibilities: This position is responsible for supporting guests in the Boston Night Center (BNC) with creating an exit strategy to achieve the best next-step housing. This position will lead BNC staff in Triage and Diversion strategies, focusing on assessment and planning, as well as collaborating with peers on case coordination with priority focus diverting people from entering shelter, as well as assisting to rapidly identify and redirect them to alternate housing and/or services placement. Supervision and oversight of the all Boston Night Center staff. Engage in staff recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orientation, work assignments, supervision, progressive discipline, and performance evaluation in accordance with program and agency policy. Provides leadership and mentoring by being present to program staff during weekly assigned shifts. Assists shelter residents in efforts to secure needed treatment through Front Door Triage. Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with key stakeholders. Facilitate financial and budgetary procedures including payroll. Provide crisis assessment, prevention and needed intervention. Evaluate incidents to determine appropriate to be taken. Review all guests’ suspensions/bars. Maintain accurate programmatic documentation Complete other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications: BA Degree preferred, in psychology or other human service field preferred. Five years of experience working with homeless mentally ill clients. Three years of experience in supervisory or management roles. Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps. A thorough knowledge of emergency shelter resources available for guests. Experience with the disease concept of addiction and a knowledgeable and compassionate view of harm reduction theory and practice. Valid driver’s license.
